Lucky Me

We just discovered this week that I am lactose intolerant and Dave and Dad say I should also stay away from gluten. I took a couple of days off from milk products over the weekend and then reintroduced it Tuesday night with pizza! We now know for sure that I should not be ingesting anything containing milk and flour. I got so sick, I was still sick on Wednesday. I almost cried when I went down the dairy aisle at H&R. Maybe it has more to do with the fact that I am going to need to cook two meals for dinner some nights so I don't deprive my family of the food they love than it does to the fact that I love milk and can't have it!

My new mission in life is to learn to cook and bake gluten and dairy free. I hope to learn how to change some recipes so that our whole family can enjoy them. I know there is plenty out there that does not include either of the aforementioned products but since I realized I have to be careful, all I want is Mexican - specifically enchiladas!!

If you have any ideas please share them with me. Missy, I know you do. You can leave a comment or email me at 3gordons@gmail.com.

Thanks for checking in on us. This weekend I hope to post some of the big fish recently caught by the men in the family.

Have a blessed day!

The Kiddos

I realized I put pictures of the animals on before I shared pictures of the kids. Shame on me. Let's just say I saved the best for last! The picture of the kids outside is the one I planned to send with the Christmas letter. Some of you received it, most didn't because time got away from me and I did not have everyone's addresses at my fingertips. But I got closer than I ever have to finishing it!! Dave is still shaking his head at me!

The picture in front of the Christmas tree includes Carter, Jana's 3 year old son.

The Easter picture is with Jean and Dave's 3 children: Bethany, Will, and Joey.

Matthew is now 9, Gracie 7, and Aaron will be 5 in July. Cute kids, huh?!?

The Two Newest Additions to our Family

As you can probably tell, I am having too much fun playing around with this. This is the last post for today, I have real work to finish!!!

Our two newest members are Nellie, the goat, and Tank, the black lab. Tank is about to surpass Maggie in height and he is only 6 months old. He is going to be HUGE! In retrospect, we should have named him Heffe (sp?), he has such heavy feet and Dave said it means boss in Spanish. Nellie provides quite a bit of entertainment. We love to listen to Gracie's giggle when Nells is bucking around. She and the dogs and cat get along famously! She is just a little over one month old and has finally gotten taller than Playful, the six-toed cat!

A Blizzard in April

The beginning of the month brought a blizzard! School was out for two days. The first snow day of the year was just the week before at the end of March. The kids loved playing in the snow and just a few days later it was in the 70's. Don't you just love spring in the Midwest? These pictures were taken in our yard. Boy, was the wind howling!

An April Morning

It is a beautiful spring morning. The sun is shining and all is good. I have been debating for some time about creating a blog and after viewing a few brave friend's blogs, I decided to go for it. Since we all know how 'great' I am at sending Christmas letters, this will be a chance for you to keep up with our family. I hope you will visit often and I hope that I will be diligent in updating this site.

Life has been good to us. The kids spend every moment they can playing and exploring our property. The last couple of weeks we have watched deer and turkey at our feeder. Gracie's room has the best view!
